Dear Church Family,
We miss you dearly and we hope this e-mail finds you well.
As the COVID-19 (coronavirus) continues to spread across the United States, with the number of cases and number of deaths increasing, we have been advised that masks are required while on campus and we are returning to our normal operating activities. We are continuing to monitor the situation and we will let you know more details as the situation changes.
Church staff will be in and out. We apologize for the inconvenience this will cause. As a safety precaution, we encourage you to e-mail us at office@firstathens.org. If there is a church emergency that comes up in this time, you can call our emergency line (903-204-4044) and we will return your call as quickly as possible.
At this time in person church services and Sunday School have resumed their normal schedules and locations. Group meetings are resuming and are asked to adhere to the mask requirements and social distancing guidelines.
Worship will be available to stream on our YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCO6X_pfTPanHDP5HB1EEoqg) or on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/athensfumctx/).
We are continually working to stay connected with you all with videos and podcasts during the week. Those can also be found on our YouTube and Facebook pages, as well as our church website (http://www.firstathens.org/media.html).
Finally, we cannot do what we do without your support and contributions. This past Sunday, we received 20% of our normal, average giving and for the month we are currently behind $14,000. With what we have seen this past weekend, the amount we are behind will drastically increase. To help close that gap, we encourage you to send us your regular tithes and offerings by mail (P.O. Box 911 Athens, TX 75751) or by giving online (https://tithe.ly/give_new/www/#/tithely/give-one-time/81933). We appreciate your help.
We love and miss you all! We pray that you are all staying safe and doing what you can to stay home and help stop the spread of this virus. We look forward to the day we will all be in worship together again.
Grace and peace,
Athens First
