UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
How do we do this? Elected and appointed leaders meet monthly to discuss, disseminate information, plan programming, gather information, make decisions and affirm each other in our UMW roles.
General meetings, studies and special projects are held throughout the year. Two Circles meet monthly from September through May and study leaders present topics on Bible study, spiritual growth and mission. Circle of Hope meets in the church parlor on the 3rd Tuesday morning of the month at 10:00 a.m. Group III meets in the church parlor on the 2nd Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m.
How do we fund our outreach efforts? Members pledge to our operating budget, and fundraising activities also generate money to support our missions. Our main fundraising activity is a Style Show and Luncheon. All proceeds are used to fund the projects of the Northwest District United Methodist Women. However, we also support local missions such as Henderson County Food pantry, candy for Mexico missions, the Methodist Children’s Learning Center, Mercy Ships and Christmas gifts to our local nursing home residents.
As United Methodist Women, we assume many roles but we share a common worldwide commitment to be faithful followers of Jesus Christ as we seek to bring our faith to life in our service to others. If you are interested in joining UMW or a small circle, please contact the church office at 903-675-5161.
