Hello Church,
Two weeks ago I announced that Andrew and I would not be going anywhere this year. I know your heart just sunk and I feel your pain. That Wednesday after I made that announcement Andrew and I were in the Jeep driving back from Tyler when he received a message about a dream appointment of his in Houston. He was reluctant to answer the call because of his great love for our church. I encouraged him to investigate the opportunity further because I care deeply about his future and the wonderful things that are in store for him in his ministry. On Monday, with a heavy heart, Andrew accepted his new appointment at St. Paul’s UMC in Houston as their Associate Pastor of Congregational Care. This is an exciting opportunity for both Andrew and Amanda as she will be graduating with her nursing degree in August and then moving to the medical district of Houston. I hope you will all join me in congratulating Andrew on his new appointment and wishing him the best in his ministry! Andrew will remain here in Athens for the Summer before he departs on this new adventure.
Blessings,
Pastor Jason

Serving in Athens has been one of the greatest honors in my life. I have seen the very best of what the body of Christ can be and do serving as your pastor. Without a doubt, this church is the best-kept secret in the annual conference; there is no place with more energy, vision, innovation, and opportunity. We also have the most dynamic staff and leadership around and the most visionary laity. Athens is poised for the future and I will miss being part of the incredible ministries happening in the life of the church.
It is an understatement to say how much I love this church, its people, and the city. I am not leaving Athens behind; I am bringing Athens with me. All I have learned here has profoundly shaped my ministry and I am so grateful for those experiences. Without your prayers, presence, and support I would not be where I am in my ministry today, and I look forward to bring those gifts and passions wherever I serve. I am incredibly thankful to Athens First for allowing me the opportunity to serve as your pastor and be part of your families’ lives. As the church moves forward, I pray you would continue to be open to God’s calling and see the blessings before you.
Grace and Peace,
Rev. Andrew Wolfe
